Public bug reported:

Running Edgy Beta on my Toshiba Tecra 8200 laptop. After upgrading to
the 2.6.17-10 generic kernel, my computer hangs after usplash. Usplash
runs and finishes (status bar goes all the way over), then black screen
with blinking cursor, then screen flashes (like changing video modes),
then it sits there with a blank (backlit, but blank) screen.

If I use the GRUB menu to select 2.6.17-7 it works fine. If I boot into
single-user mode for 2.6.17-10, that works fine (can startx to get into
Gnome with no problems).

I have attempted dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, have tried reinstalling
xserver-xorg and gdm, neither fixes the problem.
