I've tried a few times today, and have been unable to reproduce this with current Hardy. It seems this may only happen under certain circumstances, but when it has happened, it has been persistent. Are the ACPI errors meaningful to you? I reviewed the BIOS updates at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68451.html and didn't see anything notable relating to suspend/resume, but I've downloaded it and will install it as a matter of good practice.
