Oops, sorry i forgotten this bugreport... So, thanks to pointing me to the sysylog, it's how you said...in fact the DEVICE="" parameter in hardware.conf wasn't set correctly to /dev/ttyS0 and the daemon quits. But why dpkg-reconfigure is able to find the correct device and restarting the daemon don't find it ?
Anyway, it was my bad, so i apologize for that, but the configuration tool that used to be in the package before could/ should avoid problems like that, it was really much easier to configure lirc (i'm not the only one who have this restart problem or others configuration problems since this tool is no more available) -- lirc configuration not loaded after a reboot https://launchpad.net/bugs/61132 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
