If anyone is reading along, here is what I did so far (the test is printing a big JPEG image): I updated the firmware to 1.1.28 (by using Windows), to no avail. I checked and tried the PPD file meant for Windows XP, no big difference to the Linux version. I also fixed the errors in the PPD file, still no change. I tried the PPD file meant for OpenOffice, same behaviour. I printed with "lp -d printer file.jpg" to see if it was bug 114017, but the image came out successfully, just spread over a lot of pages (I am scaling it to just 1 page in gthumb).
