I have noticed that during this hick-ups, "htop" shows at least one (in
most cases both) fully loaded (100%), even though that the top process
on the list occupies cca 10%. htop also presents that CPU load as red,
so I suspect this is CPU time used in kernel. I suspect kernel is
spinning on something in this case.

I use amd64 kernel on HP nw8440 laptop with Seagate 7200 RPM disk
(ST980825AS)
