Hi, The problem here is that whenever a file is altered, Nautilus redoes its thumbnail. This is *usually* good behavior, but it is not good behavior for files that are being downloaded, because it wastes resources generating thumbnails that will then be thrown away.
I don't know if it has been fixed in the next version. Try downloading a video file, maybe a long speedrun from highspeedhalo.net or something, and see if it tries several thumbnails over the course of the download.
