Colin: Why dont you run updates for important base packages through a virtualbox installation of Ubuntu first. If it breaks you can just go back to save point X and fix it. Nobody will ever know ;)
The process could even be automated. Like: Only send the update if the vbox installtion reboots and shows X11 (gdm, kdm .. ) || login ( for a server ). I think people do test/run LTS releases even in development. And this is not what i would call a confidence building exercise ;) And we exspect bugs and breakage .. but not easily avoidable severe breakage :-P But what do i know .. i just wanted to give my .02€ -- REGRESSION: glibc 2.7-9ubuntu1 NSS module broken due to toolchain changes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201673 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
