I disagree that "I shouldn't have to run code from universe to play MP3s." is a non-bug. If you look at my solution, it had nothing to do with universe. In fact, I don't believe that universe is supposed to ship MP3 playing software, either, for the exact same patent reasons. I thought that medibuntu is where all the patent encumbered software was kept.
It is expected that I should have to use medibuntu, but that didn't work.
