Finally got the 0.46 version through the package repository (it always takes a few days to get there it seems). I'm sorry, but Inkscape still does the same thing: wait (appears to hang) with 100% CPU (good thing there's two of them in this PC, eh?) for about 1.5 minutes (or so; I didn't time it) before showing the window and running normally. I've also tried it on my root account (which hadn't run inkscape before I think), but the same thing happens there. Ah well, take your time finding/fixing this bug. Inkscape isn't a program I use often anyway.
