It depends on the game, I play WoW in Wine and it detects then a key is pressed and when it comes back up, so its fine for me. its not a perfect solution, but its the only workaround I'm aware of. so far the non- repeating keys have only been a problem when I use a terminal where I can't select the text to delete and backspace once.
