I think we're dealing with two different bugs here. The first one involving libxcb (the bug that this report actually is about) seems to be fixed after libxcb reverted to sloppy locking by default. However, the crash that Sami Dalouche reported occurs on my machine too. As a matter of fact, all of my Hardy machines (I've got three, all of them are AMD64). It's a strange bug, because when I downgrade my JDK to the version in Gutsy (update 3 instead of update 4), Eclipse works perfectly without crashes. The JDK in Hardy (update 4) crashes Eclipse quickly, and also OpenJDK does the same (although I haven't tried after todays updates, there's a newer version in the repos now). I also tried Sun's JDK update 5 from java.sun.com, but it has the same problem.
