Public bug reported:
I'm using a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. Fresh install of 7.10. Playback
works fine, however there's a mediumly loud buzzing noise in the
background when recording.
I'm recording using arecord from a console: "arecord -d 5 -f cd -t wav
-D default foobar.wav"
I've attached the result I get.
Here's some info on my hardware:

In the gnome mixer I get the option of "Sigmatel STAC 9200 OSS" so I
suppose that's the exact hardware type.
