I see, it seems that the program does not update itself when there are
what it sees as active jobs,it relies on dbus to tell awake it when the
job is finished. If Dbus never awakes it, it will never refresh
anything! The function to refresh the times also relies on the actual
existence of a job I believe (not to familiar with that section of
code). Try this alternate version of the program which should refresh
every second while there is still a job listed in the applet. You can
copy it to the correct location with the following command "sudo cp
printer-applet.py /usr/bin/system-config-printer-applet-kde" and you may
need to "sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/system-config-printer-applet-kde"

If this crashes/messes up your system, either restore the old file from
a backup or simply reinstall the system-config-printer package.
