I hit (what I think was) this problem with a fresh install of Hardy AMD64. My SATA controller is:
00:05.0 IDE interface: nVidia Corporation MCP55 SATA Controller (rev a3) (prog-if 85 [Master SecO PriO]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Unknown device 1714 I found that only my *second* hard drive (sdb) was slow, and only for writes. It turned out that the sata_nv driver, for whatever reason, did not enable the write cache on the second hard disk. 'hdparm -W 1 /dev/sdb' fixed the slow speed problems for me. Maybe that will help others on here? It's not clear why the write cache doesn't get enabled on the second drive... -- Slow SATA performance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
