Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I had a lot of files on my old flash drive and wanted to move them to my
new one. I moved them via my home folder. Then, when I was done, my
files were gone.

This was on my old installation, but I can provide some possibly relevant
information:
- The drive I moved from was 128MB vfat.
- The drive I moved to was 1GB vfat.

On my new installation, I encountered a similar problem, while not so
severe. I renamed a folder, and then it seemed to disappear. But when I
clicked "refresh", it returned. The fstab of my current installation is
as follows (probably f***** anyway):

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0

/dev/sda1 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/sda2 none ext3 auto 0 1

/dev/sdb1 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0
1

#Here is the flash pen
/dev/sdc1 /media/GMINNEPINNE vfat user 0 1

/dev/scd1 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec 0 0
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom1 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec 0 0

#fstab end

I tried the program testdisk to see if it was possible to recover any of the
data. It was not. But the program gives strange warning messages:
Disk /dev/sdc - 1016 MB / 969 MiB - CHS 1017 32 61
Current partition structure:
Partition Start End Size in sectors

Warning: Incorrect number of heads/cylinder 255 (FAT) != 32 (HD)
Warning: Incorrect number of sectors per track 32 (FAT) != 61 (HD)

Warning: Bad ending head (CHS and LBA don't match)

#(end)

I chose "Intel/PC partition" in the menu. Was that right?
