Confirmed: with alternate and server install on 8.04 beta (i386) P3 1GHz Copermine Geforce FX5200. The system is up and running, I can provide all the log files needed.
Say installation is on the way, if you switch to Alt-F2, you can press Enter to activate it. Then you go back to Installer (Alt-F1) and when you switch back to the console, blank screen.
