Actually it's not necessary. I decided to go digging and found the installer died when trying to symlink inside of the default user's home directory on setup. This issue was caused because I had already attempted an install that failed for other reasons and didn't delete the previously created home directory before attempting to run setup again. Basically it already saw there was a symlink and exiting with an error :)
