I found that the installer turns the swap off so on systems with little memory like my 400 MHz grape iMac with 128 Mb RAM the installer freezes since Linux is unable to uncompress pages from the squashfs fast enough. I workarounded this by creating my own swap partition which is then automatically used by the installer the next time. The trick to stop the installer to turn of the swap is to inhibit the swapoff command. I did it like this: sudo cp /bin/true /sbin/swapoff The installer will create another swap partition but that is the price for this workaround until the installer i clever enough not turn the swap off for low end machines... -- Dapper/Kubuntu 6.06 Install from Live CD fails when target drive has a SWAP partition defined https://launchpad.net/bugs/52147 -- Dapper/Kubuntu 6.06 Install from Live CD fails when target drive has a SWAP partition defined https://launchpad.net/bugs/52147 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
