You are right and this is the reason why there is g-a-i at all :) I am always very carefully about adding features to avoid a bloat.
g-a-i is very thightend to the menu. We mainly show only applications that have a representation in the applications menu. So you see the list of installed applications every day. No, I don't use any other operating system so often. Only to administrate (aka fix) computers of friends. MacOS has got a central software registration? I only found the programms folder which is a mess. Many programms don't seem to be registered anywhere or install files in the /System folder. You could fill another report for the missing size information. I think we could place it in the package description. But because of performance reasons (we really have to do a apt-get remove PACKAGE for every package) we cannot provide an additional column next to name and popularity. I am not a big fan of separating the user interface into two tabs based on tasks (remove/install). It limits the search function and sometimes forces the user to switch the tabs. -- Very difficult to review installed software https://launchpad.net/bugs/64694 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
