Confirmed, this is I suppose an oversight rather than a bug (splitting hairs?)
The problem stems from the fact that regular users do not have sufficient privileges to capture packets, so the interfaces are not shown. http://wiki.wireshark.org/CaptureSetup/CapturePrivileges explains this in a little more detail.
