Find "samba". Line 8378:
> Preparing to replace samba 3.0.28a-0ubuntu3 (using
> .../samba_3.0.28a-1ubuntu2_i386.deb) ...

> What was the first version of ubuntu you've installed on the system ?
I've had Ubuntu since 6.04; I've always tracked the /next/ release through the
development cycle.

> Did you modify the default smb.conf file ?
Yes. At line 8604, you'll see my first thought was to try the offered "merge"
option. Line 8605 shows an unhappy dpkg. I'm not sure what the "merge"
depends on - maybe I don't have it installed and that error isn't handled well?

> See bug 201059 for more information on the prompt.
Not a dup of that as I have amended the smb.conf file.
