Dave, you are probably correct. I've opened another bug in launchpad against hardy pre-release. I'm not having a problem with gutsy.
If you were having the same problem as I experience you could tell that by opening a terminal window under applications->terminal and entering the mount command with no options. Unless it returns more than one device mounted to the same directory my problem is definitely different from yours. If, by remote chance, it does you could try the second circumvention I list, though reading above it looks like you are now ok.
