Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I have a broken GDM today that runs 100% cpu and won't show a login.
Apparently this is related to the facebrowser. I'd like to turn it off
via the same GUI systems that I enabled it with. I'm able to log in to
the system and GNOME via startx, but when I run gdmsetup, I get an error
that GDM is not running and the program exits.

I don't know what problem this "is gdm running" check is intended to
solve, but it makes fixing this a PITA.

** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
