With ondemand scaling governor i often experienced kernel panics on my amd64 x2
4200+
Had to put 'echo performance > /sys/.../scaling_governor' in rc.local;
Can't check with newer kernel now, will be able to do so at about 8am
2008-04-05 CET, maybe.
Probably cpufreq has some issues with smp machines.
