Public bug reported: Ubuntu needs a wizard that will be activated when Places -> Network Servers is used to find another computer on the LAN. When a computer on the LAN is connected to, a wizard should pop up, asking the user to supply a username/password to log onto the remote computer. Once the username/password combination is confirmed by the remote computer, the individual has access to the visible folders on the remote computer.
This will mirror similar behavior seen when a user on a WinXP machine browses the LAN and selects an OS X machine. Once the user on the WinXP machine enters a username/password which is valid on the OS X machine, he sees that username's folders on the OS X machine. For usability reasons, the end user on Ubuntu should not have to delve into config files. Instead the wizard should make the edits necessary (using gksudo if necessary). ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Ubuntu needs a NFS mount wizard https://launchpad.net/bugs/65048 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
