When I installed the Hardy version of KDE in my offline machine at
home, I got a suprise. Unlike the crash immediately on razoring clips in
Gutsy(which happens only when running KdenLive from a Gnome
environment), the crash on deleting a razored clip in Hardy(the bug
reported here!) occurs whether you launch KdenLive from a Gnome or a KDE
desktop.

Therefore, KdenLive in Hardy can run under Gnome so long as those KDE
components listed as dependencies are installed, while in Gutsy it
really needs to run under KDE itself. In Ubuntu Hardy, running under
KDE does not seem to help the "crash on deletion of razored clip
portion" bug.

In Kdenlive/Hardy, version 0.5.svn20071228-0.0ubuntu1(calling itself
0.6 on startup), you will need to move all parts of razored clips you
want to delete to a "trash track," finish your work, close KdenLive,
reopen it and the project, and delete the trash track. Then you can
render without the trash track slowing it down.
