Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
The "download but do not install" option in update-manager works well and downloads all uploads if the system is kept on and connected to the internet for all downloads to be downloaded. This does not function as expected with the usage on a laptop that may not be always connected. If there are updates to be installed, the update-manager starts downloading updates in the background. However, once interrupted, it does not resume the background downloading; but only shows that updates as available. The updates then can be manually downloaded and installed. This has been observed 8.04 beta as well as earlier versions of ubuntu. The desired functionality is to continue background downloading whenever the internet connection is again available; so that the user does not have to wait for a long time for updates to download with the update manager in the foreground. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- update-manager does not download all updates in "download but do not install" mode if interrupted https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213776 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
