Evince seems to assign bad value of window size in ev-metadata.xml Workaround: Edit ~/.gnome2/evince/ev-metadate.xml
change the values <entry key="window_width" type="gint" value="???"/> <entry key="window_height" type="gint" value="???"/> to your required window size or to just about anything.
