Gutsy final is now near the end of it's cycle as the newest Ubuntu release. The problem I had with not being able to shut down has been gone so long that I never even thought of this bug report. To tell you the truth, I believed this was solved with the release of the final. I had no idea that the bug was still open, or I would have said something sooner. Thank you for whatever you did to correct it. I am currently running Gutsy Gibbon 64 bit, and have had no trouble with it since I installed it other than the normal things one would expect from a n00bie messing with the wrong thing and causing his own grief. :-) Thanks again.
