I am experiencing the same issue. I have a fresh edgy install, with all updates applied.
I use nvidia-glx with twinview and xinerama When I launch gnome-terminal, from an xterm window it doesn't start and I receive the same error. gnome-terminal doesn't launch from the Applications menu.
