Yes, I can reproduce this, and I am running Hardy (latests updates as of April 9th), and I have an Intel 945GM video chipset on an Acer Aspire 5630.
To define what "this" is: If and only if I am running compiz, and leave the machine on over night, then use it the next morning, in the first few seconds of use, everything on the X screen will freeze, but the mouse will move and Alt- SysRq-k (to kill the X server) works and kills it.
