Well, as for Firefox 3.0, I don't really know as Firefox 3.0 in ubuntu seams to have stopped working. (More info on this later, and in another bug report). For Firefox 2 it seams to no longer be an issue. Possibly because it is no longer allowed to change the task-bar icon by KDE(?).
How-ever, when it comes to the try-icons, there seams to still be an issue.
