Confirmed for hardy heron beta. In addition, for me if drawer is closed upon rechecking enable_animations panel just plain refuses to pop up. If drawer is open when enable_animations is rechecked it works fine however (aside from the delay bug linked below) (I hope cross-posting is acceptable... original post under https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/108951 )
