This is a bug, even if the behavior is by design, because it's both untruthful and unhelpful. It's untruthful because the menu lists a browser that doesn't exist and never has. And it's unhelpful because it doesn't actually tell me which browser will really be used.
It's a great idea to select a default browser automatically whenever the previous default is no longer installed. But the automatic selection shouldn't require selecting a particular item.
