Just tried hibernate again on Hardy Beta with latest updates and it worked fine :D
This wasn't an exhaustive test though, I just hibernated while Firefox was open and started the computer back up once it had completely shut down. I'll try it again a little later for a longer period of time (maybe over night?) and check out the suspend too.
