I don't think this is an issue with the version of Ubuntu I'm running. It's only a problem with the game program design.
After playing the game some more, I'd modify my statement: Instead of clearing the keyboard buffer when the block reaches the bottom, there should be a brief interval (about 0.2 second) to allow the block to be shifted left or right one final time after it reaches the bottom, to allow it to tuck under a nearby overhanging block. Then, when the new block appears at the top of the game pane, the keyboard buffer should be cleared, so that the new block is being moved with fresh keystroke inputs, not the keystrokes from the previous block. By holding down one of the cursor keys, it is possible to fill the keyboard buffer up to the point where the game becomes completely unresponsive to the mouse and one can't even interrupt/pause the game. At that point a forced process termination appears to be the only option. By flushing the keyboard buffer as I've described above, I believe this problem can be eliminated. While I wandered about the Web aimlessly, I heard Pedro Villavicencio say: > Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make > Ubuntu better.
