I have just bought the Lite-On Corp CD-RW/DVD Model SHC-S257K0SC SATA Drive. It
allowed me to install linux as I was not able to before on my CD-RW/DVD-RW IDE
drives. I bought the drive for $40.00 at the PC Club
http://www.pcclub.com/
I went to Fry's electronics and Comp USA and neither had a drive that was SATA.
In fact Fry's didn't know what I was talking about, and I didn't even bother
asking Comp USA. Anyway I think that this is the solution if you couldn't
install due to the install crapping out in the beginning. I believe this is due
to the communication bewteen the IDE and SATA interfaces, they don't speak to
each other when trying to install linux.
