"For each file opened, we do at least 10 stats. It makes loading files really slow if you're not using the feature, and doesn't preclude people from loading the subtitle by hand (right-click on the file, select subtitle). Now that we can load subtitles by hand (there used to be _only_ automatic loading) there's no point in slowing down everyone for the benefit of a few.
