Drivers with binary blobs are available from Intel; however the licence does not permit us to redistribute and the driver is not compatible with current kernels. Canonical could ask Intel about this but there doesn't currently seem to be any effort available to keep the drivers up to date. There is a blueprint about broad WinModem support for Ubuntu in the future and if it gets done the 536 will get drivers while at it. To be honest though, I doubt we will ever see a by default included driver for your modem in any major Linux distribution.
