  1. Go: System -> Preferences -> Sessions -> Session Options, Check: 
Automatically remember running applications when logging out, Close.
- 2. Open Gedit with or without a file, and place its window, somewhere in your 
screen, except top-left corner.

  3. Log out or restart, and (after) log in.
  4. Check if Gedit's window is correctly placed. You must see it, on top-left 
corner, instead of previous chosen position.
  
  Current system configuration:
  - Ubuntu 7.10
  - Gnome 2.20.1
  - Gedit 2.20.3
