I am able to get the sound working only if I go to kmenu->system settings->advanced->system services and start alsa-utils then as if by a miracle the sounds works well. If I reboot I have no sound. If I set alsa-utils to run at startup -I don't have any sound. I have to start the service manually. I hope this helps someone troubleshoot the upgrade issue.
