I wonder why they were deleted from the archives and also why bug 193606
was declined for hardy, but until the "official" vmware tools get into
the partner repository, you can install the open-vm-tools from my ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~hanno-stock/+archive

You'll have to run a "sudo module-assistant install open-vm-source"
afterwards to enable all kernel modules.

But being forced to use the partner repository for vmware tools is bad
IMHO, especially since Hardy is advertised with "improved virtualization
support".
