** Description changed: - I have a hard disk with windows XP installed with the SATA controller in - AHCI mode and I try to install 8.04 RC booting from the Install CD and - making all the installation but after first reboot GRUB fails with error - 17, when I try with native IDE mode Ubuntu installs OK, my motherboard - is a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H. + I can´t install Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy on my Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H with the + SATA controller (chipset SB700) in AHCI mode, the Install CD boots and + makes the installation but after first reboot GRUB fails with error 18, + when I try with native IDE mode Ubuntu installs with no problems.
