I have the same issues. Although I assigned different shortcut combinations
Ctrl + Alt + O for Firefox Ctrl + Shift + O for T-Bird they won't work. Neither does Ctrl + Alt + L lock the screen. The combination Ctrl + Alt + T to open a terminal does work though, as well as Alt + F1 to access the Ubuntu Menue. I had a similar problem with Xubuntu from the previous version (7.10) but was never able to get rid of the problem. I am using Hardy Heron 32 Bit on a FSC Lifebook E4010.
