Public bug reported:

Bug #201206 is shown as fix released, however the condition still
remains. Filing a new bug report.

gconf-editor still disregards user's choice to show the trash icon on the
desktop. Very annoying.
I have attached a screenshot for your viewing pleaseure.

I did not launch gconf-editor via terminal using sudo.
Launched it from the gnome menu after editing the menu to show the tool.
A lot of gconf-editor bugs are being marked as Invalid, when indeed they are
not. Please take a closer look before invalidating these reports.

gconf-editor works flawlessly in this regard under Gutsy, so something
had to have fallen through the cracks in Hardy.

Thanks!
