Hi, I'm having similar problems with a Nvidia 9600 GT on a AMD64 X2 platform, but its not related to any updates: The final version of Ubuntu 8.04 "Hardy" is not able to boot beyond the boot screen (Ubuntu- Logo + status bar) if MORE THAN ONE monitor is connected. Both Live-CD and installed system are only able to boot if just one monitor is connected.
Ubuntu detects the card and monitor(s) correctly and uses the "nv" driver (see attached log) which works fine with a single monitor. If I reboot with a second monitor (dual head) attached, the screen stays black after the ubuntu loading screen, as soon as the X11 desktop (Live- CD) or login screen (installed version) should appear. Unplugging the secondary monitor lets the system boot up again. See attached Xorg log and configuration files for more information, but the log does not contain any errors and looks just fine (except that the screen stays blank). ** Attachment added: "xorg.conf and xorg.0.log of my system" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13905121/xorg.tar.gz -- Hardy crashes with NVidia 9600 Video card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213127 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
