I am having problems with accessing IDE devices too. I have filed bug#222322. I suspect there may be some correlation with the problem you are seeing here, and with the problem I have encountered.
Just a suggestion. Do you have exactly two IDE devices? If so, make your hard drive the master on your primary IDE controller, and the CD drive slave on your primary IDE controller, and leave your secondary controller empty. -- ubuntu-8.04-alternate-i386 doesn't recognize IDE CDROM drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
