Yeap, the command by Tom works miracle. I hope they can fix this bug soon, because a network problem simply stops people from trying out Ubuntu (and the problem seems to apply in Kubutu as well) because they can't access support online easily if the network is down. Not everyone has the patience to log in and out of Windows to try out each single tip.
