I upgraded to Hardy with no improvement concerning the described problem. Only difference: The moment the delay happens the splash screen shows "nautilus".
Once again my question, is there a possibility to find out what causes this delay? Like watching exactly every step gnome does when upstarting. Maybe comparable to booting without the "quiet" and "splash" option. By the way: Good job with Hardy.
