Public bug reported: Updated to 8.04 from 7.10. Had Firefox 2 working with mplayer and codecs to view video news clips. After update, which included Firefox 3 Beta 5, the mplayer would only play the sound. Checked the add-ons, and finally disabled all related to video. Tried playing video again, and was asked whether to use mplayer as default. Responded yes, at which point I was told that the correct codec was missing. Allowed Update Manager to get missing codecs, and mplayer was able to play video with no problem.
Seems there is a problem if the plug-in comes preinstalled and the codecs are not available. No error is given, and no solution proposed. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Firefox & mplayer lack codecs for Video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222896 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
